You part the veil to the afterlife and call a spirit from its final resting place. You must name the spirit and provide a connection to it, such as a possession, a garment, or a piece of its corpse. An unwilling spirit can attempt a Will save to avoid the call, and on a critical success a trickster spirit impersonates the one you meant to call; the save DC is 2 lower if you never met the spirit in life. The spirit appears as a wispy form, and each minute of the duration you can ask it one question, which it may answer as it pleases or refuse. If the spirit is not in the afterlife, such as when it is undead, every result but a critical failure uses the failure effect.
Degrees of success
- Critical Success
- The spirit is particularly cooperative, and even if it has strong reason to deceive you it takes a -2 circumstance penalty to its Deception checks.
- Success
- You call the spirit.
- Failure
- You fail to call a spirit.
- Critical Failure
- One or more evil spirits appear and attack.
