You call an extraplanar creature of a level no greater than twice this ritual's rank into a circle and bargain with it, usually for a task in exchange for payment. A creature unwilling to negotiate at all can attempt a Will save to stay on its home plane. Most such creatures want a significant gift, more so when the task is risky; wicked ones will accept less if the work lets them do harm along the way. Prices run from a consumable item of the creature's level for something short and simple up to a permanent magic item of its level or more to get it to fight beside you, and some want payment other than money, such as leave to place a geas on you or ownership of your soul. One additional secondary caster can raise a warding circle that stops the creature from attacking or leaving during the bargain; this uses Crafting against the secondary check DC, and it ends if you use a hostile action against the creature or the circle breaks.
Degrees of success
- Critical Success
- You call the creature and can keep it from returning home for up to a full day, which may let you negotiate a better deal by threatening to leave it in the wards.
- Success
- You call the creature and must make your case succinctly, after which it can return home at any time.
- Failure
- You fail to call the extraplanar creature.
- Critical Failure
- You call something vile and horrible that is not bound by your wards, and it immediately attempts to destroy you.
