Changelog
What shipped and when. The DM Screen updates in the open.
2026-08-31
- The import portal recognises a Pathbuilder 2e export and a Foundry VTT document by name, and says which one it found instead of calling every file "JSON".
- A Pathfinder character imported from Pathbuilder is filed as Pathfinder. It used to be filed as D&D 5e, because both systems name the same six abilities, and a stated system meant the picker never opened to let you correct it.
- A character exported from Foundry keeps the game system Foundry recorded for it, rather than arriving with no usable system at all.
- Room keys are gone from the product. They were an older way of charging for access to a campaign, they had been switched off for a long time, and now the code is out. Players never pay, and no tool sits behind the paywall.
2026-08-30
- Dice in Dice Merge carry off a bounce again. The brake that stops a landed die rolling away was running in mid-air too, so a die came straight back down instead of travelling.
- The corner dice take half as much energy from a flick, so a quick swipe sends them across the screen instead of off it. The range from a nudge to a hard throw is unchanged.
- The browser tab shows a DM lettermark.
2026-08-26
- A full accessibility pass across the app: text contrast raised to meet WCAG 2.1 AA, visible focus rings on every control, larger tap targets, labels on inputs that had none, and a skip link on both the DM and player shells.
- Invite links work again for anyone who had visited the marketing site first. Every one of them was dead.
- Safe Mode reaches every 3D surface, and Settings is its own place rather than a room inside Dice Settings.
- Players get a death save clock they can see.
- A settled die in Dice Merge stops turning instead of drifting for seconds after it lands.
2026-08-22
- The white screen that could swallow the dice is fixed. It came from a media query that flipped the layout underneath them.
- The fidget die no longer holds its own graphics context while a game is open, which is what was closing the tab on some phones.
- The date on the Terms page says when the Terms were actually last changed.
2026-08-20
- The free tier becomes one active campaign in each game system, so a free account can run four tables at once: D&D 5e 2014, D&D 5e 2024, Pathfinder 2e, and Draw Steel. Archiving a campaign frees that system up again.
- The home system is retired. A free account no longer picks one system to live in, and no system is walled off from it, so the home-system setting and its badges are gone.
- Paid plans stay $5 a month or $40 a year, and what they buy is now one thing: unlimited campaigns, in every system, all running at once.
2026-08-19
- Yearly drops from $50 to $40. With Monthly at $5, the year now saves $20.
- The site says three systems everywhere, matching what has actually shipped: D&D 5e (2014 and 2024), Pathfinder 2e, and Draw Steel. Marketing copy that counted systems still in preview is gone.
2026-08-18
- Monthly drops from $10 to $5, and Lifetime is retired from sale. Existing Lifetime holders keep full access forever.
- HP steppers on the sheet hold-to-accelerate, with a write path that keeps up.
- Cast any spell from the sheet and be told what the slot did.
2026-08-12
- The redesigned character sheet is now the D&D default: one pencil unlocks the whole sheet, the stat card is consolidated, and ability rolls sit on the at-a-glance card.
- Homebrew workshop grows builders for items, spells, conditions, languages, diseases, traps, and house rules.
- Self-service account deletion, with a 14-day grace period before anything is destroyed.
- The reference library precaches on install, so the encyclopedia reads offline.
2026-08-06
- Pathfinder 2e battle tracker runs on its own rules: three actions per turn, Perception initiative, and the dying counter.
- The Monster Core bestiary, every Player Core cantrip and low-rank spell, weapons, armor, conditions, hazards, consumables, rituals, and afflictions land in the PF2e reference library.
- Pathfinder characters level up on Pathfinder tables, with class feats, ancestry feats, and archetypes from Player Core and Player Core 2.
- D&D builder: class features and traits carry their full rules text instead of a truncated preview.
2026-08-02
- Security hardening: response headers and cookie flags tightened, anonymous-executable RPCs locked down, per-user rate limits enforced at the edge, and an XSS audit across every injection surface.
- A crash now gets a card, a button, and a server-side report instead of a blank screen.
- Deploys stop reloading the page out from under a live session; a refresh becomes an offer, never a yank.
- Dice material picker ships Ruby, Sapphire, Copper, and Cathedral Copper.
2026-07-28
- Dice Games: Dice Merge and Farkle, two solo games built on the physics dice, playable from the Dice tab.
- Player Mode foundation: a player gets a stable identity at the table and a real dashboard.
2026-07-24
- A public reference library opens at /reference: D&D 2024 magic items and spells and the Draw Steel bestiary, readable with no account.
- The encyclopedia gets an inline accordion, grouped search results, and a floating search flyout.
- The free tier becomes one campaign in your home system, and guest mode can view any system without signing out.
- Honest comparison pages for D&D Beyond, Roll20, Foundry, Fantasy Grounds, and Owlbear Rodeo.
2026-07-18
- The DM Screen speaks nine languages: English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean, with first-visit language auto-detect.
- TV mode promotes the map and chime controls to persistent chrome.
- Seven John Bauer public-domain plates illustrate iconic SRD creatures in the bestiary.
2026-07-11
- SRD compliance pass: unlicensed book content removed from the D&D datasets. Everything that remains is properly licensed.
- The sync layer self-heals: a torn bundle recovers on its own, and TV realtime is fixed.
- Signing up from guest mode preserves your guest work instead of wiping it.
2026-07-03
- Draw Steel goes live: character builder, hero sheet, Power Roll dice, the full monster bestiary, and Director tools with the Malice pool, Victories, and an encounter budget.
- Paid tiers go on sale, and multiplayer becomes free and unlimited on every tier, with the weekly session gate removed.
- Dynamic lighting on the battle map: walls, line of sight, two-tier fog of war, synced live.
- Weather painting on map cells: rain, snow, and embers.
- Dice tray v2: real die masses, felt bounce, flick a settled die to re-roll it, and per-system dice skins.
- Roll20 campaign import, first cut.
2026-06-29
- Closed beta ends: public signups open.
- New create-a-campaign flow: pick a system, name it, play. Each campaign wears its game system on the masthead.
- Public campaign pages ship.
2026-06-11
- World map mode: stamp settlements, mountains, forests, lakes, oceans, and roads on a separate overland map.
- Paint tools v1 + v2: paint walls (3 colors) and difficult terrain on the battle map with a single brush.
- Battle Tracker and Character Sheet visual audit: 19 findings closed across engraved glyphs, motion tokens, focus rings, reduced-motion gates, primary CTAs.
- Refresh flash on browser reload eliminated: the dashboard now settles in one commit instead of flashing onboarding states.
- Modal scrim opacity tightened so button silhouettes no longer bleed through confirmation dialogs.
- Masthead is static on desktop, scroll-collapse on mobile.
